Asha Talk

On the 10th march 2011 a member of the welcome project, Joanna Jazymska came to the Laganview enterprise centre to conclude the series of talks which had been held over the 4 weeks. Joanna started her presentation with a power point display highlighting where exactly in Poland she came from. Joanna then showed examples of the national flag of Poland before talking about why she moved to the U.K. The schooling system is different in Poland with the children starting primary school at the age of 7 and it is co-located with the high school. When Joanna was 19 she left for Northern Ireland to seek education due to not being able to afford it in Poland. Soon after arriving in Northern Ireland she gained employment for Industrial Temps, which led to her finding out about the vacancy for the welcome project, she has been in Northern Ireland for 5 years and has settled with a boyfriend and revealed that although she misses her family and friends she looks upon Northern Ireland as her home.
